Ahh, Feebas. Ever since its introduction in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, this Pokémon has been perhaps one of the most elusive Pokémon to find, but you need to get one in order to get Milotic. Now, Feebas isn't as hard to find, but it is still very difficult.

  1. You need Lapras and the fishing rod from Lana for this.
  2.  From here, you should look directly south and get on Lapras.  You should see a fishing spot.

  3. If it is rippling, continue with the method.  If it is not, leave Brooklet Hill and return.  Keep in mind that going too fast near the fishing spot or traveling on top of the fishing spot will cause it not to ripple.
  4.  When it is rippling, there is a 5% chance of finding a Feebas.  When it is not rippling, there is a 1% chance.  It is very easy to leave Brooklet Hill and come back from this spot.
  5.  From here, you should weaken it with False Swipe or Hold Back, and then paralyze it or put it to sleep.
    • If it is night, you can use a dusk ball, but a dive ball will work well any time.  Feebas has a relatively high catch rate, so it should be easy to catch.

I'm trying to catch Feebas in Pokémon Sun and Moon; how long should I expect to search for it, as I haven't seen one yet?

    Community Answer
In my experience, it took about 15 minutes to find Feebas. You should be aware that Feebas has a low encounter rate of 1%, which only increases to 5% when the water is rippling, so patience is key.
  • Question

You can use Sharpedo, but its high speed might scare away potential encounters, making it more difficult to find Feebas.

Tips

  • Consider progressing to captain Kiawe's fire trial, also on Akala Island, to obtain quick balls. These have a 5x catch rate multiplier if used on the first turn of battle.
  • Like any time you try to catch a Pokémon, bring along a Pokémon with Thunder Wave and/or Spore(or any other move to put Feebas asleep/paralyze and one that can use False Swipe. This greatly increases your chances of a successful capture. A good Pokémon for this is Absol who can learn both.

Warnings

  • Do not burn or poison Feebas, because if you are unable to catch it, it may faint due to the burn or poison.
  • Don't be clumsy and accidentally run away or faint Feebas. Only attack it if you know you are not going to faint it, and still be wary of critical hits.
