If you play Clash of Clans, you may be wondering how to change your username. You can do this in CoC, but there are a few caveats: you must level your Town Hall to at least level 5, and you can only change your name for free one time. In this article, we'll go over all the steps to change your Clash of Clans name on the Android and iOS apps.

Quick Steps

  1. Open Clash of Clans and confirm your Town Hall is at least level 5.
  2. Tap the Settings button in the lower-right corner.
  3. Tap on More Settings in the lower-right corner.
  4. Tap on Change Name at the top of the screen.
  5. Enter your new desired name twice.
  6. Type "CONFIRM" to confirm your name change when prompted.
  7. Tap Okay to update your name.
  1. Before you can change your name in Clash of Clans, you must have raised your Town Hall to at least level 5. If you haven't done this yet, keep playing the game until you level up enough to change your name.

  3. This button is in the lower-right corner of the settings menu, directly underneath Parent's Guide.
  4. This is the first option in the "More Settings" menu. When you tap this button, the game will warn you that only your first name change is free. If you want to change your name again in the future, it will cost Gems.[1]
    • Once you use your free name change, the next name change will cost 500 Gems. Each name change after that will cost an additional 500 Gems, increasing in price until you reach the cap of 10,000 Gems.[2]
  5. After entering your desired name the first time, the game will ask you to confirm your username by typing it a second time.
  6. Before the game will change your name, it will ask you to do a final confirmation. Type "CONFIRM" in the text box when prompted to change your name.
  7. Your name is changed automatically. If you decide you're not happy with your new name and want to change it again, note that there is a one-week cooldown between name changes.
