Divinity: Original Sin 2

PDF download Download Article
  1. While it might seem obvious, Divinity: Original Sin 2 is very similar to Baldur's Gate 3 because it's another tactical turn-based RPG by Larian Studios (the developer of BG3). It's clear that DOS2 influenced BG3 in many ways, and fans of Baldur's Gate 3 will find Divinity: Original Sin 2 an incredibly enjoyable experience. It also features a choice-driven story, a host of characters to get to know, turn-based strategic combat, and romance. One downside is that you might find it difficult to go backwards and miss out on some of the quality-of-life features BG3 offers, but despite that, DOS2 is the perfect game to play if you've recently finished Baldur's Gate 3 and want more.[1]

Dragon Age: Origins

PDF download Download Article
  1. Dragon Age: Origins was released by BioWare in 2010, but it's still considered by many to be one of the greatest RPGs ever made. Just like Baldur's Gate 3, Dragon Age: Origins is based in a rich fantasy world riddled with problems, and your character needs to figure out how to fix those problems. It also features a host of NPC companions to join your party, with four of them being romanceable. While the combat is active (not turn-based), BG3 fans will definitely love the vibes of DAO. Since the game is pretty old, though, the graphics aren't quite as nice as Baldur's Gate 3, but it's still a worthy game to play despite that.[2]
    • If you like Dragon Age: Origins, you can try out the other games in the Dragon Age franchise. However, the games change quite a bit in their style after Dragon Age: Origins, so we decided not to recommend the series as a whole.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

PDF download Download Article
  1. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is one of the best games of 2025, and many netizens have likened it to Baldur's Gate 3. It's easy to see why: the game has incredible graphics, a deep storyline, a cast of characters to meet and get attached to, and well-rounded turn-based combat. And with over 60,000 positive reviews on Steam, you can be sure the game will be an enjoyable experience.[3]

Wildermyth

PDF download Download Article
  1. Wildermyth is an indie title that ranks high up on this list simply because it feels exactly like taking your character through a slew of tabletop campaigns. You start with a band of unlikely adventurers and play until they become acclaimed heroes. The game is procedurally generated, and your choices shape the world and characters around you. Each character has a deep and unique backstory, which means it's all too easy to get attached to your favorites. It's easy to see why Wildermyth is a great follow-up after finishing BG3.[4]

Baldur's Gate 2

PDF download Download Article
  1. If you enjoyed the setting and vibe of Baldur's Gate 3, why not try Baldur's Gate 2? The game isn't exactly like BG3 (partially because it's made by a different developer, Beamdog), but it will scratch the itch, as long as you're able to deal with learning a new system and with less high-fidelity graphics (as the game came out in 2013). The Enhanced Edition on Steam comes with the base game as well as some DLC and other extra content to keep you busy for a while. You'll even see a few familiar faces in Jaheira and Minsc![5]

Pillars of Eternity

PDF download Download Article
  1. Pillars of Eternity is set in a rich world full of adventure and exploration. Join up with a number of companions that you meet along the way to create a story for your character and figure out the secrets behind the storm-stealing winds that plague the land—and decide if the path you want to take is one of salvation or suffering. Obsidian Entertainment's Pillars of Eternity is a great choice to play after finishing BG3.[6]

Metaphor: ReFantazio

PDF download Download Article
  1. While Metaphor: ReFantazio is more of a JRPG (or Japanese roleplaying game) than a CRPG (or computer roleplaying game, which is what BG3 is), it's still a great game to play after Baldur's Gate 3 if you have an itch for a game with a great story, a cast of NPCs to meet, and turn-based combat. While any ATLUS game would probably be a good choice to play if those are your requirements, we recommend Metaphor: ReFantazio if you're looking for a game with a similar fantasy vibe as BG3.[7]

Solasta: Crown of the Magister

PDF download Download Article
  1. If you're looking for more Dungeons and Dragons-esque gameplay, check out Solasta: Crown of the Magister. Like Baldur's Gate 3, Solasta's combat is based heavily on Dungeons and Dragons 5e. The developers, Tactical Adventures, even got a license from Wizards of the Coast to include the SRD 5.1 ruleset in the game, so many players consider it an even more faithful representation of the tabletop rules than BG3. If you loved BG3's combat and want to learn even more about the 5e tabletop rules, give Solasta a try.[8]

Final Fantasy XIV

PDF download Download Article
  1. If you loved the deep story of Baldur's Gate 3, you might be interested in Final Fantasy XIV. While FFXIV is part of the Final Fantasy series, you don't need to have played any of the other Final Fantasy games to enjoy it. It's an MMORPG with a story that's been in the works for over 10 years, so there's a lot of content to enjoy. The story is rich, and you'll meet a number of characters along the way that you'll fall in love with. The biggest differences between FFXIV and BG3 are that it's a completely different genre of game and it's a subscription-based service, so after you buy the gam,e you'll need to pay a monthly subscription fee to keep playing. If that doesn't you, however, give FFXIV a shot.[9]

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous

PDF download Download Article
  1. While Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righetous is based on the Pathfinder (not Dungeons and Dragons) tabletop series, it's still a great follow-up game if you've recently finished Baldur's Gate 3. Just like BG3, Wrath of the Righteous features a robust character creator, a deep story where choices matter, tactical turn-based combat, and a number of romanceable companions.[10]
11

Disco Elysium

PDF download Download Article
  1. While Disco Elysium isn't set in a fantasy world like Baldur's Gate 3, it's a great choice for BG3 fans thanks to the game's incredible storytelling. Disco Elysium is considered by many to be one of the greatest games of all time, and it maintains an incredibly high Metacritic score, with many critics giving the game a perfect 100.[11] If you love games with a deep, well-written story where your choices actually matter, give Disco Elysium a try.[12]

Planescape: Torment

PDF download Download Article
  1. Planescape: Torment is another Beamdog game that many recommend to BG3 players looking for a similar experience. This game is also set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe, but it's a D&D experience you likely haven't had before. In this game, you'll explore the planes and the D&D multiverse alongside a number of companions. While this game was originally released in 1999, the Enhanced Edition on Steam has a ton of quality-of-life changes to update the game for a modern audience. If you haven't played it, give it a try now.[13]
  1. Tyranny is another title by Obsidian Entertainment on this list, and it's a great choice if you're looking for another choice-based RPG to play after finishing BG3. What makes it different? Well, it's set in an original setting (not based on D&D) and it's got tactical real-time combat (that you can pause), but there are more similarities than there are differences. Choices matter in Tyranny, and BG3 players will love shaping the world around them as they play through the game.[14]

Neverwinter Nights

PDF download Download Article
  1. Neverwinter Nights is yet another D&D game created by Beamdog. While there are a number of entries in the Neverwinter Nights series, we recommend the first one. While it's definitely not full of high-fidelity graphics like BG3, it's still a really fun and enjoyable D&D video game experience. What makes Neverwinter Nights truly interesting is the fact that there are player-made custom campaigns you can install for an entirely new gaming experience. With the amount of content available for the game, you'll be able to play this one for a while.[15]

Jade Empire

PDF download Download Article
  1. Stepping away from the fantasy genre, Jade Empire is a highly recommended RPG by BioWare that follows the journey of a martial arts master. While the game is older and the graphics aren't as polished as a modern game, it's still a very fun RPG experience, and you can even decide to become the hero or the villain of the story. If you enjoyed the story of BG3 and don't mind a bit of a setting switch-up, give Jad Empire a try.[16]

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

PDF download Download Article
  1. Although Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (or KOTOR) is set in the Star Wars universe, you don't need to know much about that universe to play this game. And while it's not a fantasy setting like BG3, BG3 players will enjoy this title thanks to the incredible storytelling. Just note that this game is from 2003, so the graphics may not be what you're used to if you've just finished Baldur's Gate 3, but we still think you should give this title from BioWare a try.[17]
17

GreedFall

PDF download Download Article
  1. GreedFall is an old-school RPG with new-school graphics. While the setting is slightly less fantastical than BG3, it still has magic, monsters, and everything else you'd expect of a fantasy game. You'll meet up with a number of companions and factions that you can befriend or make enemies of, and your character can shape the world around them with the skills you progress and the choices you make. Another pro? The game routinely goes on sale for as low as $6, so it won't break the bank if you wait for a sale![18]

Shadowrun Series

PDF download Download Article
  1. The Shadowrun series is another game series based on a tabletop RPG system. Shadowrun is definitely a cyberpunk game instead of a medieval fantasy like BG3, but the world of Shadowrun also has orcs, elves, and other typical "fantasy" races. There are three games in the series: Shadowrun Returns, Shadowrun: Dragonfall, and Shadowrun: Hong Kong. We recommend the entire series, but if you don't want to buy them all from the get-go, get started with Shadowrun Returns. It'll give you an introduction to the game and teach you the systems so you can tackle the other two games if you end up liking the vibe.[19]
19

Mass Effect Series

PDF download Download Article
  1. Mass Effect is another popular series from BioWare that you should try out if you loved the rich storytelling of BG3 and also like epic space games with third-person shooter gameplay. Mass Effect follows Commander Shepard across three games and a slew of worlds, where you'll meet a number of companions (some that you can romance!). While the combat is different than BG3, it's still a great game to play if you're looking for more of that story-based RPG goodness.

Fire Emblem Series

PDF download Download Article
  1. If you're a fan of the tactics involved in Baldur's Gate 3 combat, the Fire Emblem series might be up your alley. This is a huge series spanning decades, and the main series has 17 total games. Whether you want to play the older games or the newer games is up to you, but no matter which one you pick, you'll have an awesome gaming experience. Every game has a ton of companions to meet and recruit to your cause, and some of the games even have romance (like Awakening, Fates, Three Houses, and Genealogy of the Holy War). The downside to this series is that it's only available on Nintendo systems, but the older games (like on the DS and older) could be emulated.[20]
21

CODE VEIN

PDF download Download Article
  1. While CODE VEIN is more of an active combat JRPG game, fans of BG3 will still enjoy this game's deep story and cast of NPCs to meet. However, some users have stated that the multiplayer experience isn't as good as the single-player experience, so if you're looking to play the game with someone else, it may not work out the way you're expecting. Regardless, the game is still loads of fun, and it even has a demo you can try out before buying.[21]

Fallout Series

PDF download Download Article
  1. The Fallout series is an incredibly popular one, spanning many years and a number of games. While the combat is different from BG3, Baldur's Gate 3 fans will enjoy the stories and characters in these games. If you have to pick just one, we recommend Fallout: New Vegas. It was made by Obsidian Entertainment (which has a few other entries on this list), and it's widely considered one of the best Fallout games in the series.[22]

The Age of Decadence

PDF download Download Article
  1. The Age of Decadence is an ambitious RPG by Iron Tower Studio. It breaks the mold of the traditional RPG experience, and instead of slaying monsters and becoming the hero, your character is simply trying to survive in a brutal world. And when we say brutal, we mean it—the game is hard, and there's no way to change the difficulty in the settings. This game is great for all of you Honor Mode BG3 players, or for anyone looking for a unique and difficult RPG experience. There's also an extensive demo so you can try the game out before you commit to buying it.[23]

Torment: Tides of Numenera

PDF download Download Article
  1. Tormet: Tides of Numenera is a spiritual successor to Planescape: Torment (listed earlier in this article) by inXile Entertainment. In this game, you'll meet a number of companions (who may be trying to help or hurt you), travel through a strange new world, and experience a deep, rich story that changes based on how you play the game. If you liked the combat in BG3, you'll also probably enjoy Torment's Crisis system, which is turn-based and involves stealth, puzzles, and more.[24]
25

Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader

PDF download Download Article
  1. Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader is also a video game based on a tabletop game and is another entry on this list by Owlcat Games (who made Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous). In this game, you play as a rogue trader traveling through space, looking for profitable opportunities. You'll have the chance to meet up with a number of companions and make choices that affect the game's outcome. Fans of BG3's combat will also enjoy Rogue Trader's combat, which is turn-based and tactical.[25]
